Halstead Road Runners was established in 1985 when a group of enthusiasts came together to create a running club during the growing popularity of the sport at that time.

We are a welcoming and sociable club that encourages people of all ages and abilities to join. Our members range from experienced marathon runners to everyday runners who simply want to stay active, improve their fitness, lose a little weight, and enjoy meeting new people along the way. Running offers excellent exercise, and there’s nothing quite like the sense of freedom you get from exploring open roads and countryside with a supportive group of friends.

Throughout the year, the club organises training sessions and races for members and also promotes a variety of running and endurance events, including road races, cross-country, triathlons, and trail running. The club is affiliated with the Essex County Amateur Athletic Association, the South of England AA, and UK Athletics. All fully paid members are covered by public liability insurance, and as an affiliated club we are also allocated two highly sought-after places in the London Marathon each year.

We are a very friendly club who welcome anyone no matter what your age or ability. We have a very mixed membership of abilities from marathon runners to Mr & Mrs Average who want to keep fit, shed a few pounds while making new friends in the progress. Running is a great form of exercise and you will love the freedom of the open roads and countryside while running with friends.
